Privacy Policy
Effective · October 7, 2026 · Updated October 31, 2026
This policy explains what the Danceify app and this website collect, what it is used for, who receives it, how long it is kept, and what you can do about it. "We" and "our" mean Danceify. Questions: danceify.app@gmail.com.
Data We Collect
- Identifiers. No sign-up is required. The app creates a random user ID for your install (shown in Settings) and a random purchase ID that is attached to your App Store purchases. Neither contains your name, email address or Apple ID. If you choose to sign in with an email address and password in Settings, Google's sign-in service stores the email address and a protected form of the password, and we store the email address with your account.
- Photos you upload. When you make a video, the photo you pick or take is uploaded to our cloud storage, and it is shared with the AI services named in section 03 so that they can generate the video. We delete it afterwards (section 05). The app first checks the photo on your phone, for example how many faces or subjects it contains. The check runs on the phone; analytics receive only its results: the counts, whether the photo matched what the template or the chosen subject expects, and why a photo was rejected. From app version 5.28, the record of a Regular video also keeps the result of that check.
- Generated videos. Videos are saved inside the app on your device, and in your photo library only when you tap Save. A Premium video (a dance template) is first stored on our servers and then downloaded by the app. From app version 5.28, a Regular video (one of the 17 dance styles) is handled the same way; in earlier versions it is downloaded to your device directly from our AI provider. See section 05.
- Purchases. Apple handles every payment; we never receive your card or billing details. Apple tells us which product you bought, the transaction identifiers and the renewal or expiry dates. We store those, your plan, and a history of coins added and spent.
- App activity (analytics). We use PostHog to see how the app is used and where it fails. It receives: the screens you open and the buttons you tap; events such as starting or finishing a video, seeing an offer or making a purchase, with details such as the dance style or template, the kind of subject you chose (adult, baby, dog or cat) and any error message; device and app details (device model, iOS version, app version, language, time zone, screen size, Wi-Fi or cellular); your IP address, from which an approximate location is derived; and a random analytics ID together with your random purchase ID. Events can also carry the ad details described under Ad attribution below. If you signed in with an email address, your user ID and email address are attached to your analytics profile. From app version 5.28, our servers also send PostHog the outcome of each Regular video (accepted, finished or failed), with details such as the dance style, the subject, how long it took and why it failed, under the same random analytics ID; these events carry no IP address or location.
- Session recordings. PostHog also records what the app's screens showed during a session, so that we can see where people get stuck. Recordings are set to hide images and text. A video playing on screen, such as your finished dance, may still be visible in a recording. The full web addresses of the app's network requests are also recorded, with their timing and size but not their contents; these addresses include your user ID and the names of the files you upload.
- Notification token. If you allow notifications, we store a device token so that we can tell you when a video is ready or has failed and when a payment doesn't go through, and, if you opted in to offers and reminders, when a plan is set to end.
- Ad attribution. When the app is first opened it asks Apple whether the install came from an App Store search ad. Apple's answer is kept on your device and, from app version 5.32, sent to PostHog with your purchases, so that we can see which ads bring customers. If an ad brought the install, the answer can include our ad account, the campaign, ad group, ad and keyword identifiers, whether it was a download or a re-download, the country or region, and the date of the click. From app version 5.36, the answer, without our ad account, the country or region and the date of the click, also goes with your other analytics events and, if an ad brought the install, on your analytics profile. The app also reports to Apple, through Apple's SKAdNetwork, whether an install led to a trial or a subscription; that report does not identify you.
- Email you send us. If you write to us, we receive your email address and your message. The feedback link in Settings adds your user ID and app version.
- This website. danceifyapp.com uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies and records the pages you view, your approximate location, your browser and device, and taps on App Store links. The site is hosted on GitHub Pages and loads fonts and preview videos from Google; each of these receives your IP address.
The app does not use Apple's advertising identifier, does not ask for your precise location or your contacts, and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
How We Use Your Data
- To generate the videos you ask for.
- To keep your purchases, plan and coin balance correct, and to prevent abuse of the service.
- To notify you about your videos, and to send occasional reminders, if you allow notifications.
- To understand how the app is used, find and fix problems, and improve it.
- To see which of our App Store ads bring customers.
- To answer you when you contact us.
- To give Apple our side when you ask it for a refund, only if you turned on Refund Reviews (section 03).
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with anyone for advertising or marketing, apart from the report to Apple's SKAdNetwork described in section 01, which does not identify you. PostHog receives the ad details in section 01 only as our analytics provider, to show us which ads bring customers. We do not use your photos or videos to train AI models. The AI services that process your photo work under their own terms, described in section 03.
Who Receives Your Data
We share data only with the companies that run the service for us:
- Google (Firebase and Google Cloud). Hosts our database, file storage and servers in the United States, and provides sign-in and push notifications. See Privacy and Security in Firebase.
- Kie.ai (NexusAI Services LLC, United States). Generates every video. We send Kie.ai a link to your photo together with the instructions for the dance. Kie.ai runs AI models made by other companies, and your photo is processed with them: Kling video models, made by Kuaishou, for every video; for Premium videos, Google's "Nano Banana" image model (or, if that fails, Black Forest Labs' Flux Kontext) to prepare the image first; and, from app version 5.28, for Regular videos where you choose Dog, Cat or Baby as the subject, Google's "Nano Banana" image model to redraw your pet or baby standing upright before the video is made. Kie.ai's documentation says generated files are kept for 14 days and task records, which include the link to your photo, for 2 months; the link stops working once we delete the photo. Kie.ai does not publish how the model makers handle images sent through it. See Kie.ai's Privacy Policy and the data retention section of its documentation.
- Replicate (Replicate, LLC, United States). Used only by app versions 5.27 and earlier, for Regular videos where you choose Dog or Cat as the subject: the photo is sent to Replicate, which runs Google's "Nano Banana" image model to redraw your pet standing upright before the video is made. Replicate's documentation says data sent this way is removed automatically after one hour by default. See Replicate's Privacy Policy and its data retention page.
- PostHog (PostHog Inc., United States). Receives the analytics and session recordings described in section 01. It does not receive your photo files or video files. See PostHog's Privacy Policy.
- Apple. Processes purchases and subscriptions, delivers notifications, and provides the ad attribution described in section 01. If you turn on Refund Reviews in the app (version 5.27 and later) and later ask Apple for a refund, we also send Apple whether that purchase was delivered, how much of it you used, whether a free trial came before it, and whether we think the refund should be granted. Refund Reviews is off unless you turn it on, and you can turn it off in Settings at any time. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Google Analytics. Used on this website only, not in the app. See Google's Privacy Policy.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it.
Where a screen in the app says something different from this page, this page is the current description of what happens to your data.
Face Data
Photos you upload can contain faces — yours or other people's. This section explains how they are handled.
- What we do with faces. The photo is used to generate a dance video that keeps the likeness of whoever is in it. That is the purpose of the app. We do not use face recognition to identify anyone, and we do not build face templates or profiles.
- On your phone. For Premium videos the app counts the faces or subjects in the photo, on your phone, to check that it fits the template. Only the results of that check are included in analytics.
- Who receives the photo. Google (our storage), Kie.ai (every video) and, in app versions 5.27 and earlier, Replicate (Regular videos with Dog or Cat chosen as the subject), and through Kie.ai and Replicate the AI models named in section 03. Nobody else receives the photo file. Session recordings sent to PostHog (section 01) may show a video while it plays on screen, including your finished dance, so a recording can contain your likeness.
- What it is not used for. Advertising, marketing, sale, or training our own AI models.
- How long it is kept. We delete the photo from our storage within hours; see section 05.
- Other people. Only upload a photo of another person if they have agreed, and a photo of a child only if you are the child's parent or legal guardian.
How Long Data Is Kept
- Photos. We keep an uploaded photo only while your video is being made. It is deleted from our storage when the video is finished, fails or is cancelled — normally within minutes — and a clean-up that runs every hour deletes any photo older than six hours.
- Premium videos. Our copy is deleted once the app has downloaded the video to your device and confirmed that to our server, which happens the first time you open the finished video in the app, or when you delete the dance in the app. If you never open the video in the app, or the app could not confirm the download, our copy stays on our servers until you delete the dance, delete your account or ask us to.
- Regular videos. From app version 5.28, our copy is deleted once the app has downloaded the video to your device and confirmed that to our server, which happens the first time you open the finished video in the app, or when you delete it in the app; a copy the app never confirmed is deleted 30 days after the video was made. A record of each Regular video (the dance, the subject, the result and, if it failed, why) stays with your account until you delete your account. The instructions and task details we sent Kie.ai for it are deleted 30 days after the video is finished. Earlier versions of the app never store Regular videos on our servers. Kie.ai keeps generated files for 14 days (section 03).
- Account, purchase and coin records. Kept until you delete your account or ask us to delete them. After an account is deleted we keep the records tied to your purchase ID — product, Apple transaction identifiers, dates, the coins granted for each coin pack, coin top-ups recorded under the purchase ID, and the deleted user ID, with the coin balance set to zero — so that renewals and refunds reported by Apple are still handled correctly.
- Analytics. Session recordings are kept for 30 days. Other analytics data is kept by PostHog for 1 to 7 years, depending on our plan, unless you ask us to delete yours sooner.
- Server logs. Contain your random IDs, Apple transaction identifiers, the names of your files in our storage, error messages, the IP address of each request and, for Premium videos, the web address of the prepared image at Kie.ai. They are kept for about 30 days.
- Deleted files. A file we delete can be recovered from Google's storage for 7 more days and is then gone for good.
- On your device. Videos saved in the app stay on your device until you clear them in Settings or remove the app. Clearing in Settings does not remove the app's working copy of a Regular video or the small copy of your photo kept as its thumbnail; removing the app does. Videos kept in the app are included in your iPhone backup if you use one. Videos you saved to your photo library are yours to manage.
Your Choices and Rights
- Delete your account in the app. Settings → Delete Account removes the user record, coin history, Premium dances, Regular video records (app version 5.28 and later), the videos and photos stored with them, and sign-in that belong to the user ID the app is using now. Reinstalling the app, or signing out of an email account, gives the app a new user ID; anything stored under an earlier ID is not removed by this button. Deleting your account does not cancel an Apple subscription; cancel that in your iPhone's Settings first.
- What in-app deletion does not currently remove. Your analytics data, the purchase records described in section 05, and videos already saved on your device. Email us and we will delete the analytics data as well. Uploaded photos are deleted within hours in any case (section 05).
- Ask us. You can ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion at any time by emailing danceify.app@gmail.com. Include the user ID shown in Settings, or write from your account's email address if you signed in with one. If you have reinstalled the app, say so: we will delete what we can match to you, for example through a purchase. We answer within 30 days.
- Notifications. Turn them off in your iPhone's Settings at any time.
- Analytics. The app does not currently have a switch for analytics or session recordings. You can ask us to delete the analytics data linked to your ID.
Children
Danceify is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. The app can make videos from photos of babies and children that a parent or guardian uploads; those photos are handled as described in this policy.
Where Data Is Processed
Our storage, database and servers, PostHog and Replicate are in the United States. Kie.ai is a United States company and says data may be stored in the United States and other countries. The makers of the AI models that Kie.ai runs are based in the United States (Google), Germany (Black Forest Labs) and China (Kuaishou, the maker of Kling); Kie.ai does not say where those models process images. If you use Danceify from outside the United States, your data is transferred to the United States.
Security
Data travels over encrypted connections. A file in our storage can be opened only by its owner through the app, or by someone who holds the file's link. The link is long and random. We give a photo's link only to Kie.ai, which passes the photo to the AI models it runs; the link stops working when we delete the photo (section 05). The link to a Premium video is given only to the app on your device and stops working after 7 days. The link to a Regular video (app version 5.28 and later) is given only to the app on your device and stops working when we delete the video (section 05). No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot promise that data will never be accessed without permission.

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
